Drivers Permit 1971. License in 1972.
In high school: 1955 Ford F-100 sky blue, 223 c.i. 6 cylinder, three on the tree, with an overdrive unit. Truck was in mint condition. Sold it for a 1972 Ford F-100 240 c.i. 6 cylinder. My Dad would not buy an eight cylinder because he thought I would race it and he wanted decent gas mileage. Little did he know! I put Viper Headers on the 6 and upgraded ignition and such...
1974... Just out of high school saved my money and bought my first hot rod... 1966 Chevelle SS 396, 4m, 12 bolt posi... the mods immediately began. Added an open chambered 427 and had a field day with 540 horses and a 11.5 at the dragstrip.
2 years later SCORE.... My Hugger Orange (see avatar) 1969 Camaro SS 396, turbo 400, 12 bolt, gears from the Chevelle transplanted... e.t. 12.0 in quarter mile in street trim.
Those were the days and it was all good. Fast cars, fast women and an empty wallet! Hey you you guys gotta remember they were just coming out with the "Muntz" 8 track audio cassette and everyone listened to AM rock and roll then! "93 KHJ...Los Angeles" LOL
