As for the headlights, I cannot recall exactly, but I think the reason for the exposed lights may have something to do with a new law.  Not sure on that as I said, but I'm betting we won't see pop-up lights anymore.

don't think the law is effective Stateside, yet. I believe it's a European Car - since it is a world car, you can't have 2 different headlight designed...Well, you could - but...
I also agree with your last statement. Personally, I don't want to see a retro-inspired Vette...I'm in love with the C6, any improvements to that - I welcome.
