I find your statement completely ludicrous.
First, there is money in EV. It may not be the next internal combustion engine (i.e. last us 100 years) but as a stop gap measure it is significant progress.
I bet someone once said there was no money in computers... or telephones... yeah. That's a short sighted statement on your part.
Charging a car overnight is unacceptable? I find that a very reasonable trade-off for the savings in "filling up". Is it as fast? No, but there are quick charges that are less than 8 hours (apparently up to 45min but like others have said we'll have to wait and see how this claim pans out). At some point everyone has to sleep. Is it really that unreasonable to put that down time to use?
You are being very close minded. There will be other options besides EV but each one should be explored to find out what will work best.
