Oh the media definitely ran with it. It was just an email sent out from the Ren Center to ask employees to start referring to the brand as "Chevrolet" in order to tie in with new marketing campaigns. Somehow it got into the wrong hands or a chatty employee leaked it to media sources.
Like you said, both the news reports I saw today didn't reference the fact that it was an internal memo at all. This whole thing is getting blown out of proportion.
