Hate to say it but my dad judged shows for years. You shouldn't feel bad about losing to a V6, the judge sees it on a car to car basis. Doesn't matter what size engine a vehicle would have, otherwise going to a car show would be stupid, and the guy with the biggest engine would win them all. Which is not what a car show is about.
When a judge is faced with a tough decision between cars they have to nit pick. By the end of the day one of these cars has to be a winner. If ever you think you are close to losing or you are in a tossup, clean your car off again before the judge gets back.
Trust me, the second time he looks (if your car was worhty enough for a second look) will be for any dust, fingerprints, door fit, anything they can find to make your car better than the other guys. The smallest thing can cost you the trophy every time. Something rubbed the judge in the wrong way about your car. That is why you lost.
IMO, I can almost guarentee that it was the fact that yours was blacked out.
