I think seeing the LSA in the Z/28 is much more realistic. But GM better watch out. They would not be wise to just slap the LSA, unchanged, from the CTS-Vs into the Z28. Those pistons in the LSA are not up to the tasks of 650+hp while having to provide factory warranty. And if they were crazy enough to factory warranty the motor would pretty much be maxed without internal modifications.
The rods are the weak points on the GT500, but they give you more of a ceiling than hyper-explode-itis pistons would.

Dodge did it with the Ram SRT10 and Viper.

Also, the LSA has lasted 200+ hours at full throttle. That's pretty reliable for "hyper-explode-itis" pistons.
