Anywho, the $50 per year for the Xbox live service seems worth it to me, as I take full advantage of all it's abilities on a regular basis. I can see where someone who only plays online once in a great while wouldn't want to bother with it though.

Yeah PSN doesn't do that AFAIK... I could be wrong though. You can do chats if you're all in the same game but I don't think you can do between 2 games. I honestly don't even use my headset, I can't stand listening to some of these morons spewing racial slurs and other garbage, screaming like idiots, and otherwise acting like complete human trash.
I would definitely pay $50 a year for PSN even without those features. While it comes down to the game's way of setting up competition the games that I have all have good setups and the PSN is integrated nicely into everything. I just like to pretymuch play anonymously with no headset, It is fun, but not the same as when I played online games on the PC 15 years ago where you could actually meet people who didn't act like children with brain damage.
