The victim's relief fund, I think that's what it is called here, gets a cut out of every fine, traffic or otherwise. Might only be $3 or $4, but it gets a share.
The only reason my department gets more then 50% of the ticket is that we are the dispatch for 911 as well as our department. The county doesn't have a dispatch, so the tickets pay for that service as well.
Radar detectors are only as good as the cop operating the radar, lol. I love the stops with the car that has a Valentine or Escort. Those folks almost always try to hide it, whereas the guy with the WalMart Whistler just sits there with a smile on his face when I point out the detector didn't work this time. On the flip side, I can honestly say my WalMart Whistlers have always paid for themselves. If they save me from just one ticket, it's paid for!
