Any cement folks or pro-ish DIY folks

Rather ask some dumb question and show im a noob; to pull it off cheapish, then just guess and try to member this old house shows.

Need to lay down a cement path, 6ft wide, 8 ft long on the cheap.

99% just a dog/people path, and 1 old guy on a lawnmower.

3in think enough? maybe addin a section of that metal grate to stop any cracking from frost lift?

Yes were trying to do it on the cheap; cheap $1 bag cement full of rocks, over using $5 each pavers. Around 15 bags id say right?

Kinda want it rough in a way as it where the two dog runs meet and they turn the ground into a mud pit as its the only place they can reach each other to play, and the cement will keep their nails worn down good over smooth pavers.

Gonna boarder it out with wood, so we can just pull a board down it.
scribe in some lines just incase it does crack, it does it where I want.
Im thinking 2ft by 2ft scribes.
