That's the part I don't understand. Arguably Leno's were even worse for his earlier timeslot. He couldn't even draw in enough viewers to compete against reruns on TNT in his timeslot (seriously).
If you call Coco's rating's bad and you want to replace him, I understand that (that's just business)- but it seems that the bloom came off Jay's rose too. I know he had success before, but he demonstrated he didn't have as large of a loyal viewer base as they thought he did. I only marginally care about who gets what show, but this whole thing has been fascinating for me. I don't know why- slow motion trainwreck maybe? If someone gives you the choice of 2 piles of crap do you try to take the larger one because it reminded you of a better dinner?
