I ran mine to 7400 rpm when i ran 3rd gear out and wasnt paying attention to how quickly it starts accelerating after 4000. It was when in first got my car. I bent a valve on cylinder 5. But also 2 pushrods.
Buying the head was cheaper than machine work plus valves. It was like $360 with valves from GM. Took about 4 hours to replace. The hardest part was getting the header out.
