The intake is pretty easy to pull on the v6, if you ever want to really get to the valves and clean them. Media blaster with walnut shell scrubber is a pretty popular method.
If i ever get one in that's really carboned up i will usually use engine degreaser and a power washer. But doing that im usually pulling plugs and draining all the oil out too.
Your method will probably keep you from ever needing to do that, but customers i deal with usually don't spend money on maintenance unless its being towed in for neglect.
