there are multiple problems maybe:
-the weak grounds strain/burn out the starter
-the poor charging systems leaves the battery less than optimal charge.
-the heat soak.
so it sounds like the best pre-emptive measures are too:
-put extra grounds on the car when NEW.
-put a battery tender on the car all the time.
if you burn up the starter after all that.
then I would resort to the blanket on the starter & the CAT.
by then, you would need a new starter
so the poor grounds create a problem that kills the starter.
the starter heats up & dies quicker (the internals expand and will not rotate, maybe short out? (the smoke from one guys car))
then you have a few good starts when cold, but adding grounds will not repair the damaged starter.
i added a battery tender pigtail today, i guess grounds are next week.
