I think Advertising is the big one. Dodge put out amazing ads for their cars everywhere during the time the Camaro was around and still do now. They also kept upping the Horsepower over time as well. Chevy did nothing in advertisement and didn't participate in the 700+ hp car building like Ford and Dodge did. Dodge successfully sold a car on a platform that was around since Bush was president and put hellcats in it outselling both the Mustang and the Camaro until the end of that generation a year or two ago.
As far as visibility goes I can tell you there are other cars on the market with the same or worse visibility including peoples dream cars I hear talked about while bashing the Camaro that has the same visibility. Putting the con on the Camaro though probably hurt it but not as much as what I said above. I personally do not think the visibility in the Camaro is bad and I have had the car for over five years now.
