Except Mustang has
not been selling like hotcakes. Even with no competition from GM or Dodge. Sales have dropped every year since 2017. They are projected to sell somewhere around 33,000 in 2025. In 2017 they sold 82,000.
By contrast, the Mustang Mach E electric car has outsold Mustang in 2024 and 2025. They've already sold 42,000 year to date this year, compared to Mustang might get to 33,000.
The issue is whether it's vehicle price, vehicle impracticality as an "only car", cost of insurance for high powered coupes and sedans, or something else, the whole performance car market is dropping and has been for years.
EXCEPT for dedicated sports cars like Corvette and Porsche. Those vehicles are very rarely the buyers only vehicle so the buyers are more likely to accept compromises for the sake of better performance.
