GM could have offered more customizability with the 1LE package and especially the ZL1, but they decided against it. Having seen how the factory customized each Camaro on the assembly line, it would've been very easy to let people opt for leather or cloth seats or the non-alcantara steering wheels and door cards, or not getting the hood wrap etc., and it seems they could've scored quite a few more sales.
I, for example, would've bought a ZL1 if they had allowed me to make a few configuration changes, but instead of paying $20K more to GM, I spent this money (and then some) with Jannetty Racing. GM's loss entirely, because had I gotten a ZL1, I probably would've stayed put and not upgraded the car for quite a while.
Oh, and if they had refrained from their usual shenanigans we called out here a million times, the latest two vehicles in our family probably wouldn't be a Nissan and a Mazda. Peanuts to GM, I know, but I also know I'm not the only one.
