I would assume that to mean they may not lock it, but it will change the TCM tuning. But I can't promise that assumption.
I don't want the update for 2 reasons
1. My TCM is tuned and I like it.
2. The TCM update is a crock of shit based on all the stories and testimonials of how these Trans are STILL locking up after the fact.
Pick your poison.
3rd option, replace the valvebody with Next Gen Valve Body upgrade kit and tell GM to shove it up their ass.

I have to do it for my registration process. It's BS.
If they don't lock it, no bigge, as I'll just reflash as soon as I get it from the service department. I'm just worried about them locking it.
BUT - I already have the full valve kit from Next Gen waiting to be installed, so I'm good there. I was just wondering about the locking it.
