That would piss me off to have to send my TCM back to HPTuners to have them re-unlock it, and have to pay for all the credits for both modules to retune...

From what I gather of the information in this thread, they don't mess with the ECM, specifically TCM.
Some one farther up I think said they had it done that initially chevy didn't want to do it because they thought the TCM was tuned, but in that person's case it wasn't, just the ECM was tuned. So Chevy said they would do the update on the TCM.
I would assume that to mean they may not lock it, but it will change the TCM tuning. But I can't promise that assumption.
I don't want the update for 2 reasons
1. My TCM is tuned and I like it.
2. The TCM update is a crock of shit based on all the stories and testimonials of how these Trans are STILL locking up after the fact.
Pick your poison.
3rd option, replace the valvebody with Next Gen Valve Body upgrade kit and tell GM to shove it up their ass. That said not sure what that does for your registration issue. Not sure if they will let it slide knowing you have actually fixed the recall issue outright and no longer need the recall done.
If you want more detailed information about what the real cause of the issue is.... Start page hopping back 1 page at a time and check for some of the youtube videos I posted, which all explain what causes the issue related to the valve body.
