The paint on our Camaros is typically not it's selling point, so not a good indicator of something being amiss.
If you are worried about whether the car in question has been damaged (from an accident) and repainted, there are a few things you can do to research:
1) Check the Carfax to see if any accidents are reported
2) Arrange to have the car put on a lift for your inspection as a condition of the sale. With the car in the air and a flashlight, repair work and/or unusual scrapes or scratches to support structure may be more visible. The backs of the fender panels are pretty buttoned up (you'd have to remove a few screws to move the fend liner out of the way), but you should at least be able to see the rear bumper area pretty well.
