Mine use to do the same thing and sometimes wouldn't register at all. I drove for a few years like that and I'm close to 161,000 miles so I would safely say it doesn't require immediate attention.

Only takes a few hours. Video below helped me a lot. Just make sure you get the right parts and fluid.
