I'm old school, grew up in a world where the more buttons a unit had, the better it was.
The real problem with the "one less button to push" idea is that sometimes I want the same pedal pressure and rpms to be quieter, and sometimes I want the same input to cause roaring, slapping thunder. Gonna be hard to get without valves where the exhaust can only do one thing each time (although granted, it does that well).
