It's discussed in greater detail in other threads, and maybe you already know this, but I believe at some point GM started making the OCI interval linearly go down over a 12 month period, regardless of mileage, or according to mileage, whichever is faster. My old 2017 2500HD L96 Gasser's OIC is strictly mileage, even over 2 or 3 years between OCs. Well, not strictly mileage, also factoring cold starts, and other things, but factors other than TIME since the last OC.
My Camaro OCI reads like 22% left with only maybe 2000 miles on it, coming up 10 months into it. Mostly "highway" miles, driving 70mph on a 35 mile RT to work. We can have a larger discussion about degradation of oil at rest in a crankcase, fuel dilution, crossing the dew point, etc. Personally i think a year or even two is fine with low miles on a quality full synthetic.
