Also, your forum is for fellow professionals who, I imagine, have a very strong interest in discussions with their peers, whereas this forum is for owners of a car make and model with a very low barrier to entry, so putting up a paywall barrier is more of a problem, i.e. very few will want to sign up just to show a photo of their new Camaro or ask their first question when they have an issue with their car. Alas, there probably isn't enough cohesion to sustain your (vastly superior) forum model.
That said, the extent this forum is abandoned from a maintenance perspective is a disgrace and the owners should be embarrassed about this.

Yeah, I agree, it is just sad that they won't even maintain so that it just works, it took like 2 minutes for this page to load... I sent info to them on how to at last control the bot overload and they've done nothing with it...
