I'm a fan of the stock airbox. Despite the popularity in aftermarket so called "CAI", I have not seen anything making them any more cold air worthy vs the stock air box UNLESS THE HOOD IS OPEN ON A DYNO. I understand I'm in the minority here
It's an exercise in engineering and physics... There's something to be said for 'more air' but the question is, is the stock airbox offering any restriction to the amount of air the engine is sucking (what it it needs) by way of all the engine parts that dictate the amount of air it can move, like the cam, heads, valves, t-body, intake, exhaust, etc. If the factory airbox is restricting any supply, then an aftermarket that flows more would help. If not, then it's for looks. I happen to like the look of the gm performance intake.
