That's good to hear from a professional I'm just a bit paranoid, having seen several areas where GM decided to save a few bucks, this would definitely fit the pattern. The chips themselves that they use must be prehistoric, the programming models they show in their SDKs are easily 10+ years behind the state of the art. (I'm a software developer.)
