Sorry I was all over the place but I feel like OP most likely already looked into the C7 Z06 knowing that it is a 7 speed manual and I wanted to get that link to OP to see which parts were added. I tried to answer the other questions in that quick summary but going from 6-Speed to 7-Speed manual and being consistently fast in shifting could take a bit of getting used to.
The Corvette’s stock shifter also has a longer throw and MGW luckily made a short throw shifter for it to make it better. On top of that, adding more power to a light car can make driving a lot harder.
The main point is that the driving characteristics of the Z06 and the ZL1 is different even though they have the same power plant. I feel more confident in the ZL1 and having been apart of the corvette forums in the past, I know a lot more people feel the same way.
