On a good day, a bolt on LT1 with a unported LT2 intake and stock TB picks up about 10 rwtq and 15 peak HP, but way up top near redline the HP gains would be closer to 20-30 rwhp. My point is the gains are from the LT2 intake manifold.
I guess I operate in a world where 20-30HP can be had with a stroke of the keyboard so I don't see the point of adding larger TB's to pick up single digit power in the power band where your shift point is.
as you liked to share examples, here is one: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=606822
We have done ported LT2 intake manifolds and 95mm TB's on LT1 cars and we have done stock LT2 intake manifolds with stock 87mm TB's on LT1 cars. Those guys go out to race and nether seems the have the advantage.
So there is no wrong answer, I just have my own opinion on this subject.

Okay I’m cheating to get free info. There is a million dollar prize for the fastest bolt on car, every car weights the same, same wheel, tire and gear setup, you can’t cut or replace the hood, cars have the same torque converter, you can port intakes/TBs, and you can’t use custom made parts like hand built headers/intake manifolds, just off the shelf stuff. What bolt on combo in your opinion wins the race?
