You damaged the piston because it gottoo hot. Whether too much boost, too much timing we don't know without looking at a log/tune. But one thing is for sure, as King already mentioned. These cars don't last long on boost with pump gas unless you severely reduce the timing.

I won't tune a stock bottom end LT1 with boost unless the owner is running meth and or E85.


How to fix the cheapest? Take the engine apart and send it to the machine shop to be cleaned up. Drop in a set of forged pistons for the LT1. They make drop in kits that use stock rods and crank, but you will need to work with the machine shop if the piston needs to be oversized and also the ring setup. Then get your tune checked by someone like King that knows how to keep the LT1's alive under boost.

You're better off running E20-E30 if you can get ethanol vs that octane booster in a bottle.
