Morels are a good middle ground. The 7717 are similar to LS7 with slightly less plunger travel. The 7790 are a short travel drop-in. The use of short travel lifters may require custom length pushrods to get preload correct, which is the main reason most cam packages use LS7 style. They have a boat load of travel which creates a wider range of acceptability for lifter preload variances. Imo this isn't what you want for high rpm applications. You will lose lobe lift at high rpm from the lifters pumping up. Short travel solves that problem but can require more effort to setup the valvetrain properly.
