When Camaro was challenged by the mustang terminator in 2003, GM killed the Camaro off. History repeats with this company.
Sooner or later, I expect GM to bring back a V8 Supercar Camaro. It might cost nearly as much as a ZR-1 Vette though.

The end of the 4th gens was set WELL BEFORE the 2003 Mustang Cobra. That car had literally nothing to do with the 4th Gens demise...it was an unhealthy deal with the St Therese plant, and GM not promoting the 4th gens at all (advertising, or sales incentives) that killed it.
The GTD is a Mulimatic car powered by Ford and is 300+K. No Camaro has even been third partied by GM and sold in this price range. Even the COPO program was less than half that.
