IMHO if you are going to upgrade the shifter, I'd recommend the Hurst shifter. A great deal of folks have been very pleased with the shorter throw it has. Shifter install is more involved on this car than they were on the 5thGen cars.
If you're intimidated, you can always take it to your friendly Chevy dealer and they can install for you using their 1LE shifter install guide and the very detailed instructs from Hurst. You will not regret it!
