Smile Starter delay/Burning smell

Had an issue the other day while running a quick errand. I tried to start my car but the starter kept turning over but wouldnt start. I have this issue before but it would eventually start after 4-5 cranks. I noticed after trying once or twice there was a plasticky burning smell under the hood.

Eventually I had someone help jump the car which helped me get home but the next day I had a check engine light (which just disappeared). Do you guys think its a faulty starter issue and I should get it checked? Or not worry about it since the signals went away and the car has been starting normally otherwise.

The temp was in the 60s/70s that day so I don't think it was heatsoak or anything. Its a 2017 Camaro SS just for reference.
