That'a what I'd like to know. GM uses this AFM on both Camaros and trucks and possibly other cars and if there were a lot of lifter fail it seems like they would have discontinued it and they haven't to my knowledge. I am debating on getting a Range for my 2011 Camaro SS but I already have worse gas mileage that most here, city highway combined as low as 12.9 to a high of 15 with mostly 13. I am not a hard driver either and on the highway the best I have ever gotten driving 70 was 23 but usually get 19-20 if I drive with flow of traffic at 75-80. So Losing 1-2 mpg is a big deal to me. Also having to repair my engine would be a big deal too. I am retired on disability. I only have 62,000 miles currently with no issues. Do I need to get the Range now before something happens? I had one well know you tube tv show tell me I needed to do a top engine delete, new lifters and a heads off job that a tune or afm disabiler wouldn't do it. Also that if I added headers it would not improve or make up for the mpg loss of the tuning out the AFM. I always heard headers would help not only with slight incresase in HP but would help with slight mpg 1-2 increase on a car or truck. Thoughts on any of this ? I would appericate it, my car is long out of warrenty and I really don't want to get rid of it because its such a nice car and has been problem free in the 4 years I have owned it.
