Let me make one comment, not for OP who unfortunately got to the receiving end of this issue, but for everyone else who may stumble upon this thread later.

In light of the oil pump failure survey results below, one has to get the latest GM pump revision from 2019 at the very least, or even better, Katech's billet aftermarket pump that nobody has reported any issues with. See both options here.
