I like the op’s idea of an Lt4 in an SS body. Would just make it come with 6 piston front brakes, trans and convertible rear end from zl1, wheel and tire setup somewhere between the ss and zl1 and with less cooling and suspension goodies. I would NOT advertise it as a track capable camaro just like Chevy said the lt1 isn’t track capable. Leave the track goodies off to keep costs down and start it as a 1ss feature wise. It would probably be the most muscle car feeling 6th Gen camaro which honestly I do miss that feeling. If I didn’t track my car I’d be in something “worse” like what I just described.

Unfortunately, there is no committed target audience for such a vehicle, even you wouldn't buy it if you're honest with us. Now, if full customization was allowed like in the good old days, I do see some sales potential, but GM probably still wouldn't deem it worth the extra investment.
