I have removed and replaced my wheels at least 30 times per year since new (over four years now) and tracked it to the point of recurring brake fade, all while using steel lug nuts. I have done the same with many previous cars going back almost 40 years. I have never, ever seen a steel lug nut deform due to heat. Your aluminum wheels would melt long before a steel lug did.
