The clutch switch does the job for safety just fine and has since they started putting them in manual cars in the 1950s.

I’m not trying to eliminate both, Lord knows I’ve seen what can happen when you Hotwire the clutch switch (I worked at Best Buy in the 1990s when car stereos and alarms were all the rage and saw a coworker almost total his Taurus SHO 5 speed with remote start and a bypassed clutch switch)

I’m just actually trying to eliminate what I believe actually IS a safety hazard
