Agreed except (2016-2024). Thieves are lazy and just want the quick getaway. We can put lots of anti-theft devices on our cars and it will most likely result in the car not being taken. Down side is a broken window and possibly other damaged from the attempt. Going this route, the thieves will not know what car is easy and what car is difficult until damaged has already been done. To the thieves, the vehicles are still "easy" to steal until they find out differently from what each individual owner has done. If the OEM would implement some sort of protection from their end that makes all the Camaros difficult or near impossibly to steal without a tow truck, the thieves would find another more lucrative target. (in theory). All it would take is a security update from GM to prevent the key programming. (key fob signal extending is a whole other issue). It would not only protect the Camaros but the rest of their product line as well. Unfortunately common sense is a super power and with GM, once the vehicle is sold, they could really care less about the customer.
