This is correct: the clutch packs sit in gear lube like any other passive clutch LSD, and it's the same fluid that also bathes the gears. The hydraulics that actuate the force on the clutch packs are completely sealed and separate from the rest of the diff. You have to make sure you are using the proper GM 88862624 diff fluid. It already has friction modifier in it and does not need anything added.
I can't come up with an explanation for why your car only chatters on left turns when the diff gets hot. In that scenario, the left side is turning slower than the right, but that doesn't really explain anything. Are you 100% it's the diff chattering and not a wheel bearing or CV joint?
