I do know the skip shift when it engages and wants a 4th gear change, the RPM is way too low. They might have done that for the gas guzzler tax. No telling. But it could use some more RPM not to bog the motor. Never got why that was, but I rarely see that indicator.
It's 100% the gas guzzler tax.

That said, I can get some pretty amazing mileage out of it. A month ago I did a 2hr drive, with tires on my cargo rack, to AutoX, then back on the same drive. I eeked out 26mpg total, including the race. I remember my best-ever with the Gen 5 going cross country and this Gen 6 gets about 2mpg better than that, which is pretty damn amazing running 305 section tires and having the aerodynamics of a brick.

As I said above, I felt the 1-4 was worse in the Gen 5. It seemed like weight/power just wasn't enough to push it over the edge as practical and this one does much better, much better pickup in 4th when doing it.
