For the 2nd (right hand) method, you dont even need to take it slightly to the right towards 3/4. Just take a short pause at the center after disengaging from 1st and the timer will time out and you can go straight down to 2.
Also I prefer 1st to 3rd instead of 1st to 4th when merging into road/traffic and there are other cars ahead or behind - as the Skip Shift Eliminator only blocks 2nd gate for a short interval, 3rd is still open.
