FWIW the core shift issue is real, I'm on my second set of heads because of a tiny crack that allowed coolant penetration into the oil while the head gasket was perfectly fine. Not saying this is your issue, but head casting issues in the factory wouldn't be unheard of. (My mods may have exacerbated it, though, it's impossible to tell now.)
