I thought about doing the same thing and after doing all the math it was cheaper just to upgrade to a ZL1 plus the ZL1 will be worth more. Maybe if you got a great deal on a SS that is ready for a rebuild it might be worth it. I had a new one so it didn't make sense.
One thing if you do this route you want to upgrade the pistons in the lt1 or at the VERY LEAST adjust the gap on them.
