The "optimal" mix depends on what you're after. Power gains taper off past ~65%, so if more power is the goal, it's not really worth going beyond that, because the fuel delivery requirement (and consumption) grows linearly but you get very little extra power anymore.
I typically go with 50-55% from spring to late fall, except for long road trips, I pump straight 93 for those. As mentioned above, alcohol percentage goes up and down gradually as you pump different fuels.
