Sorry for the turmoil folks- unintended consequences. I had thought I had accepted the Camaro's fate and hated that "they" had made another version of Mustang that Chevy could have out engineered.
I test drove a GT Mustang in '86. It was faster than the Camaro of that time, but in the 'stang it felt like I was sitting in my kitchen chair- too high up and bolt upright. A nonstarter in my book.
Never have looked at another Ford ("fix or replace daily" was a popular Ford hating joke of the time- do people still use that?), until they came out briefly with a Taurus combined with a Yamaha 6 cylinder that made 220hp (big #'s for that time). It was the SHO engine (super high output) and was available with a manual trans! So, in 1990 I had 3 kids, a wife and a '86 Z/28.
Long story short, I bought a Dodge Caravan and kept that Camaro up until my oldest was about to start driving.
