I run hoosiers without an issue. Hoosier R7's last a good amount of time until they heat cycle out ~ 17 heat cycles. I've never used michelins, I've used scrub Pirellis before but the hoosiers were much better. Big advantage of the Pirellis is they are much lighter than the hoosiers.
I think R7's are a solid option for tracking the car. A7's are too much for the stock SS1LE suspention or ZL1 suspension, fine on the ZLE. I also really like the OEM SC3 tires, great cost/performance, especially if you're just doing HPDE.
