The issues discussed here are the exact reason I sold my ‘18 ZLE. I loved the car but the low oil pressure was a constant worry. I never had it hit the 20’s, but it was always lower than I was comfortable with on a high performance motor, even switching to the 0-40W Mobil 1.

My new ‘22 is consistently at 43-48 psi on cold start up and runs at 42-45 psi warm, cruising at 2200 rpm, using the recommended Mobil 1. These numbers are better than the ‘18 ever was. Whatever changes GM made to the factory oil pump it seems to be a reasonable improvement, based on my experience and the fewer post ‘20 MY numbers noted as failing on this forum.

If I ever decide to add a bigger cam, I would certainly consider adding a Katech oil pump. I would have liked the dry sump oil system like my ‘15 Z/28 had too, but I guess that didn’t fit the Gen-6 platform.

Good luck to all you early year owners, and to us all I suppose!

I actually scheduled a replacement of my pump for a few weeks from now to the new revised oe pump. Not sure what I'll do after that, but at least I can stop worrying, or if I sell it I can do so with a clear consciousness. I do plan to run track days this year and want to limit possible issues as much as possible.
