Magnuson gives you the option of a CARB compliant tune with their superchargers, but those tunes are made to be super safe and are thus underwhelming under the vast majority of circumstances. If you're okay with this compromise, then go for it.
I don't think our Maggies whine too much in a stock setup, their stock lids are efficient at suppressing high frequencies. If you want more whine, you'll have to mod the car some more (different supercharger lid, smaller pulley) or maybe get a Whipple, although I don't know if those can be made CARB compliant...
