When I started out I entered with the mindset of "if I'm going to get beat, I'm going to get outdriven, not beat by a car". Meaning, show up in a properly prepped car, and then focus on the driving. Show up in a poorly prepped car and lose a race by a tenth, and you'll be thinking about that one for a lonnnnnnnnng time. A great autocross tire will make you a better driver. How so? It will grip so much better that it will force your reaction times to be lazer sharp. You turn the wheel, and it will dart to that side. It will transform your car, and you already have an EXCELLENT car to start with. I'd pick up those wheels from DaveC113. You can always sell them later on, if autocross ain't your thing.
