How much is too much to dimple a Primary?

I have for the first time been able to slide the header past the steering shaft. And once again there needs to be a dimple, this time major amount or go back to stock engine mounts and no dimpling at all. Seeing this was really disheartening actually. My passenger side was real easy with a small dimple. And in fact, the manufacturer, even said it was enough room. However, what do you guys think about this amount. The bracket doesn't even fit under the primary and we still got a bolt to affix. I'm looking at flattening about a half an inch or more for at least an inch of primary.

Also, on top of the Starter there is an unprotected sensor or something. The manufacturer says these are ceramic coated and unless something is actually touching the header while running it would be safe. Also, these get awfully close to the brake lines.... Would you heat shield these items?

Thanks for your opinions and ideas.
